Gmail storage troubleshooter

Full account, crowded inbox, or a meter that hasn’t changed? Choose what happened and get a practical next step.

No sign-in or scan. Your entries stay in this page’s memory. They are never sent, saved, or added to links. This page does not read your account or delete anything.

What are you seeing?

Optional: copy your Google storage figures

Use GB from Google’s storage breakdown for the same account. Leave unknown figures blank; enter 0 only if Google shows zero.

15 GB is a personal-account starting assumption. Replace it with your actual limit, or clear it if unknown. Paid, family, promotional and Workspace quotas can differ.

Review before you remove

Gmail Trash is a recovery window

Normal Gmail deletion moves messages to Trash for up to 30 days. Trash and Spam still use storage. Review and restore needed messages before permanent deletion; Delete forever removes the recovery option.

Google One uses a different flow

The storage manager offers cleanup across services. Its Gmail and Drive deletion flow can permanently delete selected items; Photos uses Move to trash. Read the exact confirmation and keep needed copies first.

Still blocked? See Gmail can’t receive mail, the storage-full guide, or cleanup versus more storage. If Google’s meter shows space, follow Google’s missing-mail troubleshooting instead of assuming more deletion will fix delivery.
